ATLANTA, March 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- With an expansive family of leading brands that are transforming how the world buys, sells and owns cars, Cox Automotive announced today the addition of Shirley Powell as vice president of Communications and Community Relations. In this position, Powell will lead the delivery of world-class communications and bring to life the Cox Automotive narrative, which is centered on a unique, innovation-driven culture that encourages community giving.

Powell joins Cox Automotive with more than 25 years of strategic communications experience. Most recently, she served as the executive vice president and chief communications officer at The Weather Company where she oversaw all internal and external communications, executive communications, corporate brand/reputation, issues management, community relations and social media strategies for all of Weather's consumer and business-to-business brands. Prior to The Weather Company, Powell held a variety of senior level corporate communications roles at Turner Broadcasting, NBC Entertainment, Disney/ABC and Nickelodeon. She also serves on the board of directors for The Atlanta's Women Foundation and has served on several non-profit boards.
