Looking Back, The End of Massive Resistance in Hampton Roads
In September of 1958, Schools in Norfolk closed to prevent 17 African-American students from entering previously segregated schools. They became known as the Norfolk 17. In addition, thousands of other students were displaced from their schools when Norfolk closed them to prevent integration. They became known as the Lost Class of 1959. Cox Communications presents a special look at this tumultuous time 50 years ago as we sit down with members of the Norfolk 17 and Lost Class to hear their stories first hand. Watch "Looking Back: The End of Massive Resistance in Hampton Roads," presented by Cox 11 with special support from the City of Norfolk and Norfolk Neighborhood Television. Available On Demand (Cox Ch 1069) February 2010.
