PITTSBURGH, Dec. 1, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Located in scenic Chester County, Pennsylvania, Main Line Animal Rescue finds new homes for hundreds of companion animals each year. Visitors looking to adopt a pet meet animals in one of the facility's adoption rooms to see if it's a good fit. Two high-traffic adoption rooms feature painted murals by artist Cathy Jooste. The shelter's maintenance manager turned to Covestro LLC for a clear solution to safeguard the paintings from damage caused by animals and visitors.
Covestro donated its Makrolon® AR abrasion resistant polycarbonate sheets to Main Line Animal Rescue. The tough polycarbonate shields the murals from damage, enabling the organization to maintain an attractive appearance while also avoiding costly wall repairs.
"We are proud to offer the Makrolon® AR polycarbonate sheets to Main Line Animal Rescue. With the durable polycarbonate sheet barrier, the painted surface is guarded and presents a positive image of the shelter to the public," said Thomas Niziolek, architectural segment manager, Polycarbonate Sheet, Covestro LLC.
According to Niziolek, because of its combination of properties, this polycarbonate sheet product is ideal for pet rescue, grooming and adoption facilities as a wall protection solution. Makrolon® AR abrasion resistant polycarbonate sheets offer high abrasion resistance and surface hardness in addition to polycarbonate's benefits of impact, strength and clarity.
Easy to install and clean, the material features a proprietary hardcoat technology that offers protection against chemical and UV attack. Makrolon® AR polycarbonate sheets boast a long life expectancy and can withstand repeated cleaning and disinfection.
