Coverity to Chair Discussion on Open Source Software Quality at UN Conference in Geneva
The Leader in Development Testing Participates in the World Summit on the Information Society Organized by the United Nations
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Coverity, the leader in development testing, announced today that it will host a discussion on open source software quality at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which is organized by the United Nations. The event will take place May 14-18 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is a unique two-phase United Nations (UN) summit that serves to progress the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals through the global use of information and communications technologies. The goal of WSIS is to achieve a common vision, desire and commitment to build a people-centric, inclusive and development-oriented information society where everyone can create, access, utilize and share information.
Coverity's session will provide WSIS participants with an opportunity to discuss best practices regarding the improvement of open source software quality through development testing and will include a presentation on the results of the 2011 Coverity Scan Open Source Integrity Report. This report is the result of the largest public-private sector research project focused on open source software integrity, originally initiated between Coverity and the United States Department of Homeland Security in 2006, and currently owned and managed by Coverity.
