Coverity Joins Open Web Application Security Project OWASP
SAN FRANCISCO, June 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Coverity, Inc., the leader in development testing, today announced it has joined the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP). The OWASP organization is focused on improving the security of software by making software security visible, so that individuals and organizations can make informed decisions regarding software security risks. OWASP members include the nation's leading software companies, security firms and universities.
"As software becomes increasingly pervasive across all industries, organizations like OWASP are key to enabling businesses to effectively develop and maintain secure, trusted applications," said Andy Chou, co-founder and chief technology officer for Coverity. "Ultimately, developers need to fix security defects to make software more secure. OWASP has done a great deal to raise awareness of web security issues among the developer community and we look forward to working with OWASP members to further progress on this front."
