Coverall Study at Ohio Fitness Center Establishes Cleaning Efficiency Rates for Surfaces Unique to Fitness/Recreation Market
Study Also Determined High Germ Transmission Points in Facility as Measured by ATP Readings
BOCA RATON, Fla., May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent study performed by Coverall Health-Based Cleaning System, a leading franchisor of commercial cleaning businesses, determined the standard rates of production (cleaning times) for hard surface areas required to achieve aseptic cleaning in a fitness facility. The study also determined high germ transmission points for surfaces in the fitness center as scientifically measured through Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) readings.
Coverall conducted a comprehensive study of surface hygiene levels at the facility over a three day period, utilizing ATP measurement tools that provide rapid detection and readings for levels of biological contamination of hard surfaces. In addition to the ATP surface hygiene evaluation, the Coverall team conducted productivity testing to evaluate and establish efficiency rates within the fitness facility for surface areas that represent unique surfaces in the fitness/recreation market segment.
"Recent statistics demonstrate the importance of surface cleaning in reducing the transmission of infectious disease in all commercial facilities including fitness centers," said Peter Sheldon, Vice President of Operations for Coverall Health-Based Cleaning System. "Up to 80 percent of all infections are spread by hand - often indirectly through objects touched by an infected person. Thus, the proper cleaning of fitness center facilities and equipment, where patrons come into contact with multiple rooms and equipment surfaces, is an important component in programs to keep fitness club patrons healthy."
The research team concluded that specific surfaces in the fitness center represent key points of potential germ transmission, as related to high levels of ATP readings. Through the application of daily aseptic, science-based cleaning applications, these surfaces serve as a significant opportunity for the fitness center to decrease cross-contamination and the risk levels of germ transmission for facility occupants.
