Court reporter Sarah Nageotte elected to serve as Vice President of the National Court Reporters Association.

VIENNA, Va., Aug. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Court Reporters Association is pleased to announce the election of Jefferson, Ohio, resident Sarah Nageotte to Vice President of its Board of Directors. Nageotte, an official court reporter for the U.S. District Court in Cleveland, Ohio, has been deeply involved with the training of realtime court reporters.

Nageotte has been an official court reporter for nearly 15 years, previously worked for Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court in Ohio and for the Crawford County Common Pleas Court in Pennsylvania. She has testified on behalf of court reporters to the Ohio Senate Finance Committee. She has volunteered for many committees for NCRA and for the Ohio Court Reporters Association. She is also a member of the United States Court Reporters Association. Sarah has made presentations to the county bar association, the Ohio Judicial Conference, and numerous community groups, as well as during NCRA, OCRA, and additional court reporter association conventions.

Nageotte is a graduate of Geneva High School, Geneva, Ohio.  She and her husband, Ron, call Jefferson, Ohio, home, and their daughter Taylor is a student at Edinboro University, Edinboro, Pa.

While some court reporters work in the court, most court reporters work in the legal field as court reporters for depositions and other preliminary matters. Other reporters have taken up the captioning of live broadcasts, such as news and sports programming, or provide immediate realtime access to Deaf or hard-of-hearing customers who seek access to education, public meetings, or other services, in a system called CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation). In each case, the goal of the court reporter or captioner is to get each and every word a person utters down on paper or in digital form.
