REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Oct. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Course Hero, an online learning platform with over 20 million course-specific study documents provided by students and educators, announces several new features designed to offer a more comprehensive studying and learning experience.
Since 2006, Course Hero has helped college students find the necessary resources—student notes, study guides, help from tutors, and more—to graduate confident and prepared.
Today, just in time to help students study for midterms and finals, the company unveils its most engaging set of features yet, including new study guides, interactive Practice ProblemsBETA, and a redesigned Study Dashboard to help students keep track of their courses.
"For more than a decade, we've been helping students graduate confident and prepared," said Andrew Grauer, Course Hero cofounder and CEO. "We are excited to continue investing in technology, content development, and partnerships with educators to help build toward our vision."
New Study Guides
Course Hero is working with university and college educators around the country to add new sets of highly detailed, easy-to-understand study guides to its library. The newest guides cover popular introductory-level biology, microeconomics, macroeconomics, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and psychology. Study guides include vocabulary definitions, illustrations, summary points, and videos. The collection, available at www.coursehero.com/sg, will grow this year to include additional subjects such as business and accounting, math, physics, and more. The collection is currently available to all students and educators for free.
"Students are always looking for more ways to help them digest and understand core concepts from class," said Course Hero Product Manager Chelsea Hegge. "These guides are a great way to reinforce what students are learning from their professors," she added.
Practice ProblemsBETA
Course Hero's Practice Problems allow students to interact with practice questions in a whole new way. Starting this fall, students will begin seeing the option to "Start Practicing" on a variety of documents and study guides, and they can then click through a series of 20 multiple-choice questions.
"We're using machine learning technology to help students discover a range of relevant practice problems," says Course Hero Product Manager Shawn Jolly. "It's ideal for retrieval practice and exam prep."
The company's initial Practice Problems are in the subjects of microeconomics, macroeconomics, general economics, financial accounting, and biology; more sets will be added in coming weeks. The tool is available for free. A demo version can be seen at https://www.coursehero.com/demo/Average-versus-Marginal-Costs/.
Study Dashboard
Course Hero now offers a redesigned Study Dashboard where students can organize their online studying. After creating an account, students simply search by course name and university name, then add courses to their Study Dashboard. Then, every time students log in, they will easily be able to click into each of their courses to access materials the community has shared—including study notes, tutor explanations for student questions, study guides, and more.
"We hope that the new course experience will enable students to spend more time studying and less time trying to find content," says Course Hero Product Manager Anitha Veerappan.
