Courageous Kids Inspire SingleHop's $10,000 Donation
A visit by the company's CEO sparks the generous gift
CHICAGO, Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SingleHop, Inc., a leader in highly automated Infrastructure-as-a-Service, today announced the company recently donated $10,000 to The Center for Courageous Kids (CCK), a world-class, year-round medical camp located in Scottsville, KY. Zak Boca, the company's co-founder and CEO, is a Kentucky native and recently had the chance to visit the camp for the first time. "The entire facility, the children it serves, as well as the people responsible for its success are truly remarkable. I am extremely proud of our company's success because it allows us to help such an amazing organization," said Boca.
Since 2008, the camp has opened its doors to over 10,000 children and their families. The center offers two different programs - a traditional overnight camp experience for five nights and six days during the summer or the family retreat option that allows a child's entire family to spend a weekend together. The Center for Courageous Kids relies solely on donations to continue to provide these cost-free camp experiences. "It is because of the generosity of companies such as SingleHop, Inc. that we are able to continue serving children with life-threatening illnesses," said Kim O'Connor, Development Officer for CCK.
The Center for Courageous Kids' mission is to uplift children who have life-threatening illnesses by creating experiences year-round that are memorable, exciting, fun, build self-esteem, are physically safe, and medically sound. The children that Courageous Kids serves would not typically be able to attend camp due to the costs associated with sending a child to camp, as well as the level of care that they require. "Obviously it always feels good to be able to give to those in need, but this organization is truly something special. We're trying to plan a company retreat to the camp so every SingleHopper can meet the kids and see the product of their hard work and dedication," said Boca.
