Councilmember Adam McFadden Elected President of National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials

SEATTLE, Nov. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Councilmember Adam McFadden of Rochester, N.Y. was today elected the 2014 president of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials (NBC-LEO) constituency group during the group's annual membership meeting this morning at the National League of Cities' (NLC) Congress of Cities & Exposition in Seattle, Wash.

Councilmember Jacquelyn E. Johnson of East Orange, N.J. will be the group's immediate past president.

NBC-LEO honored Norman B. Rice, president and CEO of the Seattle Foundation, during the group's annual membership luncheon yesterday. The former mayor of Seattle from 1990 to 1997, Rice leads the foundation in achieving its mission to create a healthy community through engaged philanthropy, community knowledge and leadership. He is a member of the White House Council for Community Solutions and the Brookings Institution's Advisory Committee for Sustainable Communities.

NBC-LEO was created in 1970 to represent the interests of African American elected officials within NLC. The organization strives to increase African American participation on NLC steering and policy committees to ensure policy and program recommendations reflect African American concerns and benefit their communities.
