SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Cosumnes Community Services District has entered into a project with OpTerra Energy Services, Inc. (OpTerra Energy Services), a subsidiary of the global energy services corporation ENGIE to increase the District's energy and operational savings. Through a new energy program planned to start this fall, the District is expected to generate over $2 million in net savings as a result of energy efficiency upgrades across 22 sites, including community centers, parks, and fire stations.
"We're committed to providing environmentally and fiscally responsible energy operations that benefit our residents and the District as a whole," said Cosumnes CSD General Manager Jeff Ramos. "We look forward to advancing our energy operations and embarking on this program with OpTerra."
OpTerra Energy Services will provide the District with tailored energy services that will enhance energy performance across the District's sites, including LED lighting, HVAC replacements, wireless thermostats and solar-powered shade structures for parked cars. The positive financial impact of the energy and operational savings generated from the project will benefit the over 183,000 residents residing in the District's service area in South Sacramento County. As a result of the long-term stream of annual savings associated with the energy upgrades, Cosumnes CSD will be able to address deferred maintenance and ongoing modernization work at no extra financial burden to ratepayers. As another part of its community engagement work, OpTerra's team has also supported science and engineering education for local students through Cosumnes' "Weird Science" summer camp.
"OpTerra's innovative solar and energy conservation capabilities open new doors for Cosumnes CSD and other agencies in the Greater Sacramento area that previously did not think this work was financially possible," said OpTerra Energy Services President and CEO John Mahoney. "We are proud to work with Cosumnes on this fiscally responsible project that takes advantage of available rebates, creates local jobs, reduces the District's environmental footprint, and ensures that the District is able to provide high quality services to its constituents for years to come."
OpTerra Energy Services expanded its regional growth this year to meet the growing regional demand for sustainable energy solutions by expanding its Sacramento Valley operations and relocating to Downtown Sacramento.
