COSO Seeking New Board Chair

NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) is seeking applications for the position of Board Chair. The Chair is responsible for leading COSO in fulfilling its mission of providing thought leadership dealing with enterprise risk management, internal control and fraud deterrence.
Robert B. Hirth Jr., the current COSO chairman, plans to step down after serving in that capacity since 2013. The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), a sponsoring organization of COSO, is managing the application process. The elected position will commence on Jan. 1, 2018, for a three-year term.
The COSO board is seeking candidates with deep knowledge and experience in risk management and internal control matters, leadership skills, public speaking proficiency, and a commitment to the success of organizations through effective governance practices.
Key responsibilities will include: board leadership; strategic relationships with other organizations that have a common interest with COSO's mission; oversight of COSO-sponsored projects; and other activities.
"Top management leadership experience is essential with a background that includes skills complementary of COSO's mission as well as a commitment to national recognition among organizations and regulators that interact with COSO," said Richard F.
