Cortiva Students Provide Rejuvenating Massage Therapy at Equestrian Training Event
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The Phillip Dutton Eventing 2010 Camp is a highly regarded equestrian training camp for accomplished equestrians.
Equestrian training requires tremendous physical stamina and intense mental focus. To promote muscle relaxation during the experience, Cortiva Institute – Pennsylvania School of Muscle Therapy students will offer riders massage therapy for stress relief on June 30 starting at 2 p.m.
"This is a great opportunity for our massage therapy students to work with a unique set of athletes and hone their skills to alleviate tension and promote healing and relaxation," said Cortiva instructor William Ensminger.
Eventing is an equestrian event which comprises dressage, cross-country and show jumping. The event has its roots as a comprehensive cavalry test requiring mastery of several types of riding.
Phillip Dutton, the founder of the eventing camp, is a native of New South Wales, Australia. He moved to the United States to train and to prepare for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, at which he was a member of Australia's Gold Medal Three-day Eventing Team. Since his move to the U.S., Dutton represented Australia in three Olympics and four World Championships. In 2006, Dutton became an American citizen and changed his competitive nationality so that he would be eligible to represent his adoptive home, the United States.
Dutton and his wife Evie, own, manage and train out of True Prospect Farm, in West Grove, Pennsylvania and at their Red Oak Farm in Aiken, SC. He dedicates a good deal of his time to coaching other riders. He coached the US Area II Young Riders in 2001 and 2002. He also coaches many adult amateurs and a number of the USET short listed riders. Dutton is a founding member of the Professional Riders Organization (PRO) and is on the USEF Safety Committee, the USEF High Performance Committee for Eventing and the USEF Board. In 2009, he was voted the Developing Rider Coach of the Year.
"It's very beneficial for our riders to have massage therapy available between training events," said Dutton. "Most riders don't feel the tension in their muscles until they dismount so we appreciate having the Cortiva students here help our riders relax and prepare for their next event."
