Cortiva Institute - Hoboken Massage School Experience Offers Prospective Students Hands-On Workshop
HOBOKEN, N.J., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Cortiva Institute's new Hoboken campus will offer the Massage School Experience for prospective students on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its 2 Hoboken Place location.
The Massage School Experience offers prospective students the chance to explore this growing field, where they will have the opportunity to meet with the Cortiva admissions team, faculty and staff.
The school is currently recruiting students for its class start, set for October 25 at the new location, which is located across the street from the Hoboken Terminal and just a 12-minute PATH train ride from midtown Manhattan. Cortiva's Hoboken location will offer a 1,080-hour program that is designed to meet the educational requirements for New York State licensing along with a 600-hour program that exceeds New Jersey educational requirements.
Students attending the event will also learn how to start a career as a Professional Massage Therapist and topics will include career services and placement opportunities, the financial aid process, and class scheduling options.
The recession has recent college graduates and seasoned professionals now sharing a single top concern – job security. Many of them will likely find what they're looking for in the health care industry, where overall employment is expected to rise 22 percent by 2018.
Some healthcare fields, like massage therapy, offer greater flexibility and variety in career opportunities. A massage therapist can achieve certification in approximately one year and work in a wide range of settings, from a chiropractor's office to an upscale hotel or day spa.
And massage therapy is a fast growing field. In fact, the U.S. Department of Labor's 2010-2011 Occupational Outlook Handbook states that employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 19 percent through 2018, faster than average for all occupations. And SimplyHired, a job search website, notes that since 2008, massage therapist jobs have increased in numbers by more than 300 percent.
The Massage School Experience is free, but space is limited. Interested individuals should call 201.215.6444 to RSVP to the event.
