Cortiva Institute - Florida School of Massage Therapy Hosts Career Fair
TAMPA, Fla., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- For students graduating with a Diploma in Professional Massage Therapy, the news is good. The U.S. Department of Labor's 2009-2010 Occupational Outlook Handbook states that employment for massage therapists is expected to increase 20 percent through 2016, faster than average for all occupations.
To help graduates find successful and rewarding careers in the field, Cortiva Institute – Florida School of Massage Therapy in Tampa will hold a Career Fair on Sunday, May 23 from 9 - 11:30 a.m. at 4045 Park Boulevard. Following the job placement event, free Continuing Education (CE) Seminars will take place from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Space is limited to the first 60 people who sign up at 9 a.m. when the Career Fair opens.
According to Marc Westergard, director of career services for Cortiva Institute – Florida, the upcoming Career Fair will take a different approach from similar events. "We will have 'on-site massage interviews' allowing participating employers or recruiters to evaluate a Cortiva graduate through a structured employment interview and also conduct a massage demonstration," he said.
Cortiva graduates are well prepared for their hands-on interviews because of extensive experience gained in the school's public clinic.
This is an appealing resource for employers because, says Westergard, it helps eliminate the need for additional scheduling and time associated with the traditional multi-stage interview process. "The big benefit to any employer is the ability to interview and make tentative job offers to graduates in one sitting," he adds.
