CORT Business Services Streamlines Accounts Payable by Implementing Brainware Distiller
AP Automation Solution Creates One Single Shared Service Center for US Operations
ASHBURN, Va., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Brainware, Inc., the leading provider of intelligent data capture and enterprise search solutions, announced that CORT Business Services, a Berkshire Hathaway company, has successfully implemented the Brainware Distiller™ solution for North American invoice processing. CORT consolidated accounts payable (AP) operations for more than 60 distribution facilities across the country into a single shared service center using the Brainware solution.
Previously, the entire AP process at CORT was manual, which resulted in errors and costly delays. The finance organization recognized that centralizing operational centers and procedures would help it become more profitable. The Brainware Distiller solution now captures and extracts data from invoices and travel and expense reports, validates the information and then passes it along to the PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. With its intelligent reconciliation capabilities, Brainware Distiller automatically applies district codes and account numbers before sending the document into PeopleSoft. All of this is done much faster and with a reduction in the manual effort on the part of the AP team, which has allowed CORT to use 66% less staff.
"The money we have recouped after consolidating physical processing centers and by picking up our early payment discounts is essentially dollars that drop to the bottom line," said Debbie Lansford, Chief Financial Officer for CORT Business Services. "We are proud of what we've accomplished with Brainware, and this is just the start. With the full visibility we now have into the accounts payable process, we are able to turn that insight into some action to further improve our operations."
"We do not have a large IT department in house, so we had a requirement that any solution for this process needed to be low maintenance in terms of implementation and ongoing support," added Ray Hughes, Executive Director for Audit and Financial Systems at CORT. "The fact that Brainware leveraged its knowledge and experience from past implementations was huge. With that, we were able to focus on business processes versus getting bogged down with technical details."
CORT is the nation's leading provider of rental furniture with a global network of affiliates in more than 50 countries. CORT's customers include more than 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies.
"The top CFOs recognize that our solution helps them address board room challenges in addition to improving departmental processes," said Carl Mergele, Chief Executive Officer at Brainware. "The management team at CORT immediately saw the value that Brainware Distiller brings, and the impact that it has on an organization's financial position."
