SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Marvell (NASDAQ: MRVL), a worldwide leader in integrated silicon solutions, today announced that a jury in Marshall, Texas delivered a verdict in a lawsuit brought by Lake Cherokee Hard Drive Technologies, LLC ("Lake Cherokee") against Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. ("MSI"), Marvell's U.S. operating subsidiary, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. In the lawsuit, Lake Cherokee asserted that MSI infringed two patents purchased by Lake Cherokee pertaining to certain read channel technology that is not practiced by any Marvell chips. Specifically, the patents at issue are U.S. Patent Nos. 5,844,738 and 5,978,162. The jury unanimously found that Marvell did not infringe these patents.

"We have always maintained that the claims asserted by Lake Cherokee were completely unfounded, baseless, and untrue and therefore we fought vigorously to defend our integrity and reputation. The jury's verdict is a total vindication of Marvell's position," said Sehat Sutardja, Chairman and CEO of Marvell. "Marvell will always stand up for the principles and standards by which we do business. I'm pleased to have this litigation behind us so that we can continue to focus our energies on what we do best – designing and delivering the world's most innovative semiconductor products."
