In fact, Dr. Shah visited the Double Session High School in Sukkur where USAID–funded partners were providing relief supplies to 1200 flood victims living temporarily at the school. USAID partners have been providing assistance to victims of the flooding at the school since August 16th. The Double Session High School is a Pakistan government school and is under the supervision of the Government of Pakistan. At no time during his visit did Dr. Shah encounter or meet with any members of a banned extremist organization.
At a press conference in Sukkur, Dr. Shah announced that the U.S. is contributing an additional $50 million to early recovery efforts from the Pakistan floods. The United States is now providing $200 million as well as significant in kind and technical assistance specifically to address the impact of these floods.
We refer any questions regarding the Double Session High School in Sukkur to the Government of Pakistan.
