The event celebrated business partnerships between majority-owned corporations and minority business enterprises (MBEs). These relationships have translated into over $20 Billion in contracts awarded by corporations to MBEs during the previous calendar year.
The event was hosted by local news anchor Roop Raj (Fox 2 News), and featured an invocation by Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr.
"Thirty years is a major milestone for our organization," said Louis Green, MMSDC President and CEO. "It also reflects our State's position as a leader in supporting diverse businesses. Michigan has been a pioneer in positively impacting minority communities through economic development, and this has positioned us well for future growth."
Over the course of the evening, the MMSDC distributed awards across twenty categories. The awardees represent thousands of jobs created in Michigan and a broader general investment in minority communities across the state.
