The company ranked first based on its performance in seven key areas: Environment, climate change, human rights, philanthropy, employee relations, financial and governance.

In order to compile the list, every company in the Russell 1000, the highest ranked stocks in the Russell 3000 Index of publicly held U.S. companies, is ranked according to over 342 data points of information. The methodology for generating the list is governed by a Methodology Committee of the Corporate Responsibility Officers Association (CROA).
