Coriant Enhances Multiservice Transport Solution for Seamless Evolution to New Services
New Feature Release for Coriant 6350 Switch Node Quadruples Switch Matrix and Service Interface Capacity
NAPERVILLE, Ill., Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Coriant, a global supplier of dynamic metro-to-core transport solutions, today announced a significant capacity upgrade to the Coriant™ 6350 Switch Node. The 6350 Switch Node is a high-capacity multiservice transport platform designed for efficient transport of diverse traffic in metro-edge networking applications. This new feature release quadruples the switch matrix (400G, high order/80G low order) and service interface capacity (2.5G/10G).
As networks begin to migrate to packet and Optical Transport Network (OTN)-based transport technologies, it is important that existing Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SDH) and Ethernet services continue to be efficiently supported. The quadruple capacity increase of the 6350 Switch Node allows customers to replace multiple nodes with one 6350, on a single shelf. As a result, OpEx is reduced and operators are able to offer new revenue-generating broadband services.
The 6350 Switch Node utilizes SDH and Ethernet switching, along with low-order grooming capabilities to enable efficient transport of end-user business services, mobile backhaul and IP offload traffic. Key features of the multiservice platform include seamless scalability and low latency when Ethernet is mapped into SDH and OTN, facilitating integration into OTN transport networks.
"It is a time of significant progress and new advances in the telecommunications industry. Ubiquitous broadband is unquestionably a force of positive change across Central America," commented Jorge Escobedo, CEO of Grupo STG. "At the core of the broadband movement is the end-to-end transport infrastructure that will serve as the engine for a new generation of services and applications linking citizens and communities across vast distances and driving economic development. Coriant has been a trusted partner for 20 years and this support is critical to our ability to meet the needs of our customers."
"Operators need an easy way to modernize their traditional SDH networks. With the quadrupled switching capacity of the 6350, operators can easily, and without disruption, upgrade existing nodes while adding new services," commented Alberto Barriento, Latin America and Caribbean Region Vice President for Coriant. "Coriant has thousands of 6300 series network elements deployed worldwide, and we are committed to ensuring seamless transition for our customers as they evolve their transport networks."
