ATLANTA, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- CoreNet Global today announced the appointment of John Gilleard, PhD, HKIE, IFMA Fellow, as its new Asia/Pacific learning director.
"We are excited to start the new year with a full-time, regionally based learning director whose credentials are so well aligned with our needs," said CoreNet Global Chief Learning Officer Brenda Wisniewski.
Gilleard was recently Associate Dean of the Faculty of Construction & Land Use, and Head of the Department of Building Services Engineering, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). He joined the PolyU in 1991, having previously worked in the UK, Singapore (National University of Singapore) and the US (Georgia Institute of Technology). He established Asia's first Facility Management graduate programme in 1996. He is currently a guest professor at the Hochschule Kufstein Tirol Bildungs GmbH, University of Applied Sciences, Kufstein, Austria and a partner with the Sloane Partnership, a facility management training consultancy based in Hong Kong. He also has strong relationships with Asia universities and other industry associations.
"CoreNet Global is fortunate to have found a professional who knows his way around education, government and industry associations, as well as understanding adult learning principles and the business of learning through his responsibility for strategic plans and budgets," Wisniewski said.
In addition to taking a leadership role at the upcoming CoreNet Global Summit in Singapore, a Pre-Summit Learning Seminar and a Discovery Forum for senior-level executives this March, Gilleard will direct the association's prestigious Masters of Corporate Real Estate professional designation, and chapter-based learning events within the region. His operations will be based in Hong Kong beginning 1 February, where he will be joined by newly appointed Asia Strategic Events Manager Betty Chan.
According to CoreNet Global, Gilleard will play a key role in growing both membership and participation in the region.
"John's view of his role is consistent with ours: learning and membership are interdependent assets that will help us establish a strong brand and base from which to grow," Wisniewski added.
