Corbett Administration Helps Global Medical Company Cut Ribbon on New, State-of-the Art Facility in Pennsylvania
ALLENTOWN, Pa., June 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary C. Alan Walker today toured Central Admixture Pharmacy Services (CAPS) new location, helping to cut the ribbon on the new facility that will bring more than 70 new jobs to the region. CAPS is part of the B. Braun group of companies.
"Although its global headquarters is in Germany, B. Braun continues to grow and create jobs in Pennsylvania," said Walker. "CAPS will be adding over 70 new jobs to the more than 2,000 employees it currently has in the Lehigh Valley."
This is CAPS third facility in Pennsylvania. The 32,000-square-foot sterile compounding pharmacy will bring the latest in engineering and technology to support the reduction of medication errors that affect healthcare.
"B. Braun's decision to expand is a testament to the positive business climate Governor Corbett is creating in Pennsylvania and the talented workforce that is located right here in the Lehigh Valley," Walker said.
At the event, company officials said they had considered several other locations but selected Upper Macungie because of the positive business climate in Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. In March, Bruce Heugel, B. Braun Chief Financial Officer, joined the governor's trade mission in Germany where he highlighted the company's positive experience in Pennsylvania.
"It was an honor to stand next to B. Braun officials in Germany to promote Pennsylvania as a place to successfully do business. We are glad that you have found a home in the Keystone State and want others to do the same," said Walker, who toured the new facility after participating in a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Headquartered in Melsungen, Germany, B. Braun has more than 28,000 employees worldwide including more than 2,000 in the Lehigh Valley. CAPS, a subsidiary of B. Braun, is a network of state-licensed, FDA-registered pharmacies providing service to over 500 hospitals and home care customers. For more information on B. Braun visit www.bbraunusa.com.
