Coral Springs Museum of Art set to Transform into an Underground Speakeasy for Annual Masterpiece Event
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Aug. 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Coral Springs Museum of Art, invites art enthusiasts to grab your baby, get all dolled up, and travel back in time to the roaring '20s for the Museum's annual Masterpiece Event, which will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2016, from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.
On this night only, the Coral Springs Museum of Art will transform into a speakeasy style hideaway. Guests will enjoy a red carpet entrance, secret entry password, music, dancing, silent movie projections, hors d'oeuvres, hand-crafted signature cocktails, and a balloon raffle to win prizes all in the spirit of raising funding for the Museum's innovative arts educational programming and exhibitions.
"Our annual Masterpiece event brings art followers and community members together to experience a unique night that supports our local art museum and educational programming," said Julia Andrews, the Museum's Executive Director. "Everyone is invited to come enjoy the transformed museum, live entertainment and the work of Ira Bruce Reines and Erté."
This year's event theme, the roaring '20s, pays tribute to Erté's notoriety designing sets and costumes for MGM Studios' productions including Ben-Hur and The Mystic.
Artist Ira Bruce Reines, protégé of the incomparable Erté, will be in attendance as the Museum formally opens its newest exhibit "A Reflection of Erté," and unveils a piece that will be donated to the Coral Springs Museum by Ira Bruce Reines and Masterpiece Publishing.
The exhibit features a selection of Erté sculptures, working drawings, tools and a large selection of works by contemporary master sculptor, Ira Bruce Reines. The show will explore the artistic heritage of art deco master Erté. At just 23 years of age, Reines was selected to work alongside the legendary Erté; the exhibit will also explain the relationship between Erté and Reines and the process for creating bronze sculpture.
"Our human spirits, tiny drops of a great cosmic ocean, tested by the human experience of love, hope and faith, the eternal yearning of the soul for flight and union with the eternal are what I strive to create with my sculptures," said Reines.
The annual Masterpiece event is the bee's knees of art events in South Florida and is sponsored, in part, by Publix Supermarket Charities, Total Wine & More, Masterpiece Publishing, Broward County Cultural Division, State of Florida Division of Cultural Affairs, Coral Springs Festival of the Arts, and the City of Coral Springs. Event sponsorships and raffle items are still being accepted and are encouraged.
Tickets for the Masterpiece event are $100 for museum members and $150 for non-museum members. To purchase tickets for this year's Masterpiece event on September 17, 2016 featuring Ira Bruce Reines, visit http://bit.ly/CSspeakeasy.
