Coral Springs Museum of Art Calling for Entries for "Inspired By" Juried Exhibition
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., Jan. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Calling all artists: What inspires you? The Coral Springs Museum of Art wants to know! The Museum presents "Inspired By," an open media exhibition from Saturday, February 10 – Friday, March 2, 2018, demonstrating artists' individuality and creativity brought about by personal inspiration. This open theme asks artists to complete the sentence, "My work is inspired by [blank]."
Artists are invited to submit up to two works to be considered for inclusion in this juried exhibition. Works will be judged and recognized by Museum Choice and People's Choice. All selected works will then be displayed in the East Gallery beginning February 10, 2018. An official exhibition reception will be held Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 6 p.m.
"There are so many local artists who inspire us, and we want to know what moves them to create their work," said Julia Andrews, Executive Director of the Coral Springs Museum of Art. "The Inspired By exhibit is an open call to artists of all mediums, and we are excited to learn what makes them tick."
The winner of the Museum Choice will receive a solo show opportunity in the Kuhn Gallery of the Coral Springs Museum of Art. Their image will also be featured as the banner image of the Museum's Facebook page for the duration of the exhibition and will be announced on the Museum's website, Instagram and e-newsletter. In addition, the winner will receive a one-year family membership to the Museum ($125 value).
The winner of the People's Choice will receive an announcement on the Museum's Facebook page, Instagram and e-newsletter. They will also receive a one-year Individual Museum membership ($75).
Artists may submit digitally or in person. There is a nonrefundable $40 jury fee for up to two pieces. All digital submissions are due by Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 5 p.m., and artists will be notified of selection on Friday, January 19, 2018. For artists who are dropping off, there will be a "same day" selection process. Works must be received at the Museum on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 10 a.m. – noon, and artists must return at 3 p.m. to confirm acceptance and pick up unselected works. Phone calls will not be accepted.
