DALLAS, March 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN) congratulates Sheriff Mike Brown of Bedford County, Virginia who has been named the 2017 Ferris E. Lucas Sheriff of the Year by the National Sheriffs' Association. Sheriff Brown is honored with this award for his leadership and support of community and law enforcement safety programs and initiatives including Protect the Protectors, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the implementation of the COPsync911™ threat-alert system in local Bedford County schools.
Sheriff Brown stated, "The Bedford County Public Schools were first in the state of Virginia to establish COPsync911 throughout the school district. The system can reduce emergency response times and increase student and faculty safety. I am proud that I was able to bring this life-saving technology to our local schools."
The COPsync911 threat-alert system reduces emergency response times. The system, which complements the traditional 9-1-1 system, is activated by school faculty and staff or other persons under threat and sends an immediate, silent alert to other employees, the local law enforcement dispatch center and the closest patrol officers -- even if they are away from their patrol car.
Ronald A. Woessner, CEO of COPsync commented, "Sheriff Brown has dedicated nearly 50 years to law enforcement and intelligence service. He has focused on keeping communities safer and providing law enforcement the tools to do their jobs more effectively and safer. We congratulate Sheriff Brown on receiving this prestigious award, and we are proud that he chose COPsync911 to keep his constituents and law enforcement officers in Bedford County safer."
