On June 4, 2017, the Board appointed Wade Powell as a new member of the Board to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Brad Powers and Larry Schafran. Mr. Powell will also serve as a member of the Board's Compensation Committee.
Mr. Powell has over 20 years of experience in IT architecture and leadership. He has served as a valuable member of the COPsync team since 2010, starting with the company as the Director of Technology and becoming the Vice-President of Technology for COPsync in January 2012. He is currently responsible for the oversight and management of all product and system development and infrastructure growth within the company. Prior to COPsync, Mr. Powell served as the Managing Architect for The SCOOTER Store between 2005 and 2010 where he was responsible for the architecture and development of their systems. Mr. Powell has also served with USAA on their Claims Remote Service and Catastrophe teams where he was responsible for the IT development and support of a nationwide network of appraisers and adjusters.
Under Mr. Powell's leadership, the user base for the COPsync Network has expanded to tens of thousands of users and devices across 18 states. He is the architect for the COPsync911™ threat-alert system, a real-time service that provides information to first responders as an incident unfolds. With COPsync911™, officers are on the scene sooner and equipped with more of the information they need to end the incident faster.
