COPsync and the National Crime Prevention Council to Collaborate on School Safety Training and Marketing of COPsync911 Threat Alert System
DALLAS and WASHINGTON, Dec. 30, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN), which operates the nation's largest law enforcement in-car information sharing and communication network, and the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC), home to icon McGruff the Crime Dog®, have entered into an agreement to promote school safety training, and enhance the quality of COPsync911 training. The NCPC, a leader in school safety, will create instructor led classroom training for COPsync911, which they will conduct along with other topics in school safety training. COPsync will promote this and other training classes available from NCPC, while driving incremental subscription revenue from COPsync911 sales. This is a continued collaboration between COPsync and NCPC following the successful COPsync911 pilot project, which was announced in June 2015.
"Taking a bite out of crime means ensuring the safety of students nationwide, particularly in this era when school violence is prevalent and unpredictable," said Ann M. Harkins, president and CEO of NCPC. "Working together, our two companies will provide important resources for U.S. schools to adopt the procedures they need to ensure safety."
Herbert D. Severin, VP of New Business Initiatives for COPsync, said, "More than ever before, public safety and education leaders must be unified in their efforts for student protection. The superior safety features of COPsync911 and the NCPC's known, respected and time-tested resources will jointly help achieve that public need. We look forward to working with the NCPC and McGruff to further raise awareness about classroom safety and the specific advantages that COPsync911 can bring to keep schoolchildren, teachers and school staff safer."
The organizations will continue to collaborate on various cross-promotional efforts and ongoing school safety initiatives. COPsync plans to incorporate the McGruff logo into its COPsync911 communications and marketing materials and promote classroom safety training developed by the NCPC. In turn, the NCPC will include information about this safety training and COPsync911 on its website.
Currently protecting more than 650 schools in nine states nationwide, the COPsync911 system is activated by school staff when a threatening situation arises, and allows the staff to send an immediate and silent alert to all other staff, the local law enforcement dispatch center, all patrol cars and on-duty law enforcement officers, even if they are away from their patrol car. The system can inform patrol officers of the threat faster than dialing 9-1-1; hence, they arrive on the scene quicker and equipped with up-to-the-minute situational information about the unfolding violence. Through the service, officers receive the threat alerts directly to the computers in their patrol cars and on their mobile devices. They can immediately access a map to see the location of the school and view a diagram of the building's interior so no time is wasted determining the exact location of the threat. The school staff, the responding officers and the local dispatcher communicate about the incident as it unfolds via a "Crisis Communications Portal." Thus, when arriving on the scene, officers are equipped with current situational information, which helps them develop an effective tactical response plan. The COPsync911 threat alert system can save minutes, when seconds count. To learn more, visit www.copsync911.com.
About COPsync, Inc.
COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN) is a technology company that improves communication between and among law enforcement officers and agencies from differing jurisdictions to help them prevent and respond more quickly to crime. The COPsync Network connects law enforcement officers and agencies to a common communications system, which gives officers instant access to actionable, mission-critical data and enables them to share information and communicate in real-time with other officers and agencies, even those hundreds and thousands of miles away. The Network's companion COPsync911 threat alert system, enables schools, courts, hospitals, government buildings, energy, telecommunications and other potentially at-risk facilities to automatically and silently send threat alerts directly to local law enforcement officers in their patrol cars in the event of a crisis, thereby speeding first responder response times and saving minutes when seconds count. The COPsync Network saves officer and citizen lives, reduces unsolved crimes and assists in apprehending criminals and interdicting criminal behavior—through such features as a nationwide officer safety alert system, GPS/auto vehicle location and distance-based alerts for crimes in progress, such as school crisis situations, child abductions, bank robberies and police pursuits. The COPsync Network also eliminates manual processes and increases officer productivity by enabling officers to write electronic tickets, accident reports, DUI forms, arrest forms and incident and offense reports. The company also sells VidTac®, an in-vehicle, software-driven video system for law enforcement. Visit www.copsync.com and www.copsync911.com for more information.
