DALLAS, April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- COPsync, Inc. (NASDAQ: COYN), which operates the nation's only law enforcement in-car information sharing and data communication network and the COPsync911™ threat-alert service for schools, government buildings, hospitals and other potentially at-risk facilities, announced a joint technology development agreement with LIFEWatch USA, one of the nation's leading providers of Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS). The collaboration will focus on the development, marketing, and distribution of a hand-held device, tentatively named the COPsync Beacon, which may be used to remotely trigger a COPsync911 alert.
The development of COPsync Beacon is part of the Company's ongoing strategy to seek business relationships that enhance the functionality of its SaaS platforms and its marketing and distribution efforts. The Company sees the addition of remote alert devices to its COPsync911 threat-alert system as adding significant value by providing another mechanism for persons under threat to send an emergency alert through the COPsync911 threat-alert system, already installed in over 1200 locations in 10 states.
In the wake of recent school shootings and active shooter situations across the nation, LIFEWatch USA realized that its technology could improve and contribute to emergency response strategies in a meaningful way. "We knew we had a good solution for this market, but we felt like it could be enhanced," said Evan Sirlin, President of LIFEWatch USA. "Through our relationship with COPsync, we believe we are addressing all of the critical features to maximize safety and protection specifically for educators and their students. We believe the COPsync Beacon will allow a rapid response to situations such as an active shooter, whether on a college campus or a lone worker situation. The collaboration between COPsync and LIFEWatch will bring the safety, protection, and peace of mind LIFEWatch is known to bring to the elderly to the workplace, grade schools and college campuses."
"We cannot think of a better company to work with than LIFEWatch USA for adding a remote device alert capability to the COPsync911 threat-alert system," added Ronald A. Woessner, COPsync CEO. "In addition to combining our respective competencies, we expect the extensive LIFEWatch USA distribution channel will help us leverage our sales capabilities and expose the COPsync911 threat-alert system to a larger population of potential buyers. We look forward to working together with one of the most recognized American brands that have provided the medical alert services as seen on TV for the last 20 years."
