Coors® Banquet Serves Up History With Heritage Cans
Legendary brand quenches thirst for the authentic and uncompromising
GOLDEN, Colo., Feb. 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Former U.S. Presidents on Air Force One, pickaxe-wielding miners, "Smokey and the Bandit" and modern-day outdoorsmen alike have all carried it – Coors, the Banquet Beer.
That uncompromising attitude and timeless western mentality of Coors Banquet, which continues to entice so many to "Grab a Piece of the Legend," goes on display nationwide February 1 with the release of four commemorative cans.
Each of the four distinctive "yellow belly" designs will highlight an era-specific piece of the legendary history of Coors Banquet, ranging from 1880 – the decade it was introduced – to 1959. Every can also includes a unique story highlighting the brand's notable past.
"Coors Banquet is one of the great American icons that has stood the test of time," said Coors Banquet Brand Manager Chuck Buckingham. "Through the 'Grab a Piece of the Legend' program, we celebrate and share our past while encouraging new tales involving the timeless western brew."
Since 1873, Banquet has been stubbornly brewed in the same Golden, Colorado brewery with 100% Rocky Mountain water and High Country barley. Over the years, the beer has played a role in major motion pictures and countless picnics and parties, all while maintaining that 19th-century Western mystique it has become known for.
Coors Banquet heritage cans are available nationwide February 1 through March 31. Fans are invited to head to www.Facebook.com/CoorsBanquet to share their Coors Banquet stories for the chance to appear on the brand's site. For more information, please visit www.coors.com.
