ConvergEx Group's Nancy McLaughlin Honored with Traders Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award
NEW YORK, Oct. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvergEx Group, a leading technology company, today announced that Nancy D. McLaughlin has been named a recipient of Traders Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award in their second annual "Wall Street Women: A Celebration of Excellence" awards. The program recognizes leaders that demonstrate how to skillfully and safely guide the securities trading industry to greater prosperity. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to women with more than two decades of senior management experience on Wall Street, and "who have achieved the pinnacles of success and acted as role models to younger generations of women and men."
Ms. McLaughlin has over 25 years of experience in the institutional brokerage business during which time she has held numerous leadership roles. Currently, she is a managing director at ConvergEx Execution Solutions, a member company of ConvergEx Group, where she is responsible for developing new business opportunities, growing existing client relationships, as well as expanding these relationships into other areas within the firm.
"Nancy is highly deserving of this prestigious award. A true pioneer, she has continuously persevered and proven her adaptability through an ever-changing market structure," said Joseph M. Velli, chairman and chief executive officer of ConvergEx Group. "Over the many years I have worked with Nancy, I have seen firsthand how she embodies the very best personal characteristics of our industry. Her innovative spirit, overabundance of respect for her customers and colleagues and her commitment to integrity and fairness in all situations is a great inspiration to all. We are enormously proud of all her achievements and offer her our congratulations."
"Women have had to overcome huge respect gaps, wage gaps and even perceptions that there somehow is a gap in the intellect that can be applied to securities trading,'' said Tom Steinert-Threlkeld, editor-in-chief of Traders Magazine. "These women have proven emphatically that those gaps do not exist; or, if they do, must be eradicated. On merit.''
Individuals were nominated in eight categories. Candidates were recommended by their peers in the trading community who submitted information on a variety of criteria, including responsibilities, financial results and organizational success, on each nominee.
This year's award-winners were selected from a field of more than 70 nominees by an independent advisory board comprised of seven established, female leaders from the industry.
