ConvergEx Group Appoints Steven P. Heineman as General Counsel

NEW YORK, Aug. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ConvergEx Group, a leading technology company, today announced that its board of managers has appointed Steven P. Heineman as general counsel. Mr. Heineman also joins the firm as a member of the ConvergEx Group Executive Committee.

Mr. Heineman comes to ConvergEx from Societe Generale where he most recently was general counsel in the Americas region, overseeing the legal and compliance coverage of the firm's financing, derivatives, equities and fixed income sales and trading, FX, commodities and investment banking activities. Prior to that role, he served as Director of Litigation and Regulatory Affairs for Societe Generale's U.S. business lines.

His previous experience includes eight years as a litigator at Debevoise & Plimpton and more than three years as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.

Mr. Heineman holds his B.A. in Political Science from Hobart College where he graduated magna cum laude and his J.D. from New York University School of Law. He serves as a member of several professional organizations including SIFMA's General Counsels' Committee and its Compliance and Legal Division as well as the American Bar Association's Litigation Section.
