ContinuumRx Announces Joint Ventures with Three Health Systems in Tennessee and Alabama
Company now has Joint Venture agreements with 30 hospitals
BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- ContinuumRx, Inc. announced today that it has executed Joint Venture agreements with Saint Thomas Health Systems in Nashville, Erlanger Health Systems in Chattanooga, and Huntsville Hospital System in Huntsville, Alabama. ContinuumRx's strategy is to operate only in markets where it has a major health system as a partner. The announced Joint Venture agreements bring the company's total number of health system partners to eight and the total number of hospitals to 30.
"As new healthcare delivery models take shape, there is increasing interest from hospitals to own, or be more closely aligned with, their pre- and post-acute service providers," said Brian Booth, Senior Vice President at ContinuumRx. "Our joint venture model is a very attractive option for healthcare systems seeking the clinical, operational, and financial benefits of having their own home infusion service to offer, but without the start-up risks and day-to-day management responsibilities of doing it themselves."
ContinuumRx opened its first Home Infusion Pharmacy in December 2010 and now operates home infusion pharmacies in six southeastern markets. The company has eight health systems, which own and/or operate 30 hospitals as joint venture partners. The company provides centralized administrative services from its Birmingham, AL headquarters. ContinuumRx Express locations in Knoxville, TN; Jackson, MS; Nashville, TN; Chattanooga, TN; Birmingham, AL; and Huntsville, AL are state-of-the-art home infusion pharmacies staffed with infusion pharmacists, technicians, registered nurses, dietitians and hospital-based admission coordinators.
