(NYSE: CLR) (the "Company") has scheduled a special meeting of shareholders for Friday, August 10, 2012 for the purpose of voting on approval of the issuance of shares of common stock, par value $0.01 per share, of Continental Resources, pursuant to the terms and conditions of the previously announced Reorganization and Purchase and Sale Agreement, dated March 27, 2012 (the "Purchase and Sale Agreement"), among the Company, Wheatland Oil Inc. and the shareholders of Wheatland Oil Inc., in accordance with Section 312.03(b) of the New York Stock Exchange Listed Company Manual and the requirements of the Purchase and Sale Agreement.

The special meeting of shareholders is scheduled to be held at 10 a.m. C.D.T. at the Cox Convention Center, Meeting Room 4, 1 Myriad Gardens, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73102-9219.
Continental plans to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission and mail to shareholders later today definitive proxy materials pertaining to the special meeting of shareholders.
