Continental Airlines Relocates to Terminal 1 at Chicago O'Hare International Airport
CHICAGO, Nov. 11, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines today announced it will move its ticketing and check-in counters from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD), effective Tuesday, Nov. 16.
Continental's relocation to Terminal 1 centralizes its facilities in the same terminal as United, a key step in integrating the two carriers' operations at this hub. The move also co-locates Continental with fellow Star Alliance members that operate in Terminal 1, including Lufthansa and ANA.
Earlier this month Continental moved its baggage claim to Terminal 1, and customers now claim their bags on baggage belt 2. In 2009 the carrier relocated to Terminal 1 gates B1 through B4, where members of Continental's Presidents Club have convenient access to United's Red Carpet Club located near the Continental gates.
The move in Chicago signifies one of the first of many relocations that Continental and United are undertaking to streamline their operations as they integrate the airlines, and is a continuation of co-locations in many domestic and international markets that began when Continental joined Star Alliance in 2009.
