Context Optional worked with Virgin America to create a unique engagement experience for Facebook and Foursquare users checking in at Virgin America's new next generation home terminal at SFO. Context Optional created "Terminal 2 Takeover," using its Check-In Leaderboard product, an application which dynamically aggregates and displays mobile phone location check-ins by Facebook and Foursquare users. Virgin America and Context Optional soft launched the Leaderboard product at the SFO Terminal 2 Community Open House on Saturday, April 9th.
In order to participate and be featured on the Leaderboard, users need to first agree to Facebook's Terms of Service on the "Terminal 2 Takeover" application located on the Virgin America Facebook Page at Facebook.com/VirginAmerica.
"We're thrilled to begin service at our beautiful and sustainable new Terminal 2 home and we are eager to encourage fans to explore our new digs," said Jill Okawa Fletcher, Social Media and Communications Manager for Virgin America. "We're pleased to partner with Context Optional to create a fun social experience that engages, recognizes and rewards our first guests at T2."
"Virgin America is taking social to new heights, combining mobile and social to energize their tech-savvy fan base," said Kevin Barenblat, CEO and Co-founder, Context Optional. "Context Optional is proud to have worked with Virgin America, creating a social experience that enables Virgin America fans to qualify for fun prizes by checking into their sweet new Terminal 2 venues, like the Sky Bridge to Awesome and the Red Chairs."
Opening April 14, 2011, T2 aims to become the first LEED® Gold-certified terminal in the country and will serve as the home base of operations for Virgin America, the only California-based airline. Known for its inventive design and sustainable best practices, Virgin America informed the T2 design process from its earliest stages. T2 offers features that mirror Virgin America's own unique flight service, including a "Recompose" lounge that acts as a soothing oasis for flyers post-security, beautiful living-room like gate areas, the best in local and organic dining, elevated laptop work tables with outlets and WiFi and the airline's distinctive cabin "moodlighting" featured at its T2 ticket counters and gates.
