BOSTON, March 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom DeVesto, a 40-year veteran and Hall of Fame member in the consumer electronics industry, announced the launch of Como Audio, a new kind of audio company based in Boston, MA. This is the third Boston-based audio company founded by Mr. DeVesto, the first being Cambridge SoundWorks, followed by Tivoli Audio, which was sold last year, giving Mr. DeVesto "three cheers" for his audio pioneering ventures.
"It has always been my mission and passion to bring to market the highest quality consumer electronics products that reflect what consumers are looking for in outstanding design and sound quality," says Tom DeVesto, CEO and Founder of Como Audio. "With my newest venture Como Audio in which the consumer will find audio products considered to be best in their class and of the highest performance."
Prior to forming Como Audio, Mr. DeVesto was the Founder, CEO and Chief Designer of Tivoli Audio, a company he founded in 2000. Under Mr. DeVesto's leadership, Tivoli Audio brought to market award-winning signature audio products designed to deliver high fidelity performance in a unique range of colors and furniture grade woods to look as good as they sound. He re-popularized listening to the radio and took radio design to a new level from mono black and white to a rich assortment of techno-colors housed in furniture grade wood cabinets.
Mr. DeVesto was also the Co-Founder, President, CEO and Head of R and D of Cambridge SoundWorks, a company he started in 1988 with Henry Kloss, the Audio Hall of Fame member and nationally acclaimed inventor, and later brought public. At Cambridge SoundWorks, he introduced the concept of factory-direct selling on a Web site (hifi.com), and proved that an audio manufacturer could be successful in factory-direct selling by offering the customer the highest quality audio products at the best prices, backed by outstanding customer service and money-back guarantees. His concept of selling factory direct to the customer became an overnight success, one that is widely practiced today with all manufacturers of audio products.
Tom DeVesto has a long history of working in the consumer electronics industry and Boston in particular. He introduced big-screen projection television to the mass market at Kloss Video Corporation and held various management positions at Advent Corporation. Prior to that he started and ran several retail operations selling audio products. Staying true to his love of radio and music, he currently serves on the Board of Overseers of WGHB radio in Boston, MA, and on the Board of Directors of WMVY radio on Martha's Vineyard.
