MENLO PARK, Calif., Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Consulting magazine has named global consulting firm Protiviti (www.protiviti.com) a recipient of the publication's inaugural Excellence in Social & Community Investment Award, which honors the positive impact consulting firms make in social and community causes. Protiviti was honored for its U.S. Intern Day of Service, an initiative designed to integrate Protiviti's summer internship program into the firm's overall commitment to community involvement and corporate social responsibility.
"Introducing our new Intern Day of Service this year was a meaningful component of our summer internship program because it helped demonstrate to our potential future employees the importance Protiviti people place in giving back to their respective communities around the country," said Protiviti President and CEO Joseph Tarantino.
For Protiviti's Intern Day of Service, interns were joined by some of the firm's employees and clients in 25 U.S. cities where Protiviti has offices and volunteered on projects in support of not-for-profit organizations and partners – including the American Lung Association, Habitat for Humanity, Project Open Hand and Ronald McDonald House, among many others.
Consulting magazine presented awards to 15 firms for partnering with nonprofits, government entities, associations, and private and public sector companies through pro bono work, significantly discounted work, community outreach initiatives, employee-motivated volunteer projects, and other social and community investment and engagement.
"We often recognize consulting firms that are doing well. Now, we want to recognize consulting firms that are doing good," said Joseph Kornik, publisher and editor-in-chief of Consulting magazine. "It's time to acknowledge all the consulting profession does to make the planet a better place. We're thrilled to recognize their selfless efforts with this new Excellence in Social & Community Investment award."
