MENLO PARK, Calif., Aug. 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Consulting magazine has named global consulting firm Protiviti a recipient of the publication's Excellence in Social & Community Investment Award for its 'i on Hunger' program, an initiative that aimed to provide one million meals for those struggling with hunger across the globe. To date, Protiviti has provided more than 1.4 million meals to people in need, having exceeded its million meal goal on June 15, 2015. The award recognizes the positive impact consulting firms make in social and community causes.
"We are honored to be recognized by Consulting magazine for the second consecutive year," said Joseph Tarantino, president and CEO of Protiviti. "The success of our 'i on Hunger' initiative has been a result of our firm's dedication, collaboration and truly global commitment to help those in need. I'm extremely proud of our employees and their efforts to help in the fight against world hunger."
Since November 2014, Protiviti employees, interns and clients have volunteered together in more than 90 events around the world for food drives, meal-packing events and meal delivery projects. Through the i on Hunger initiative, Protiviti has collaborated with more than 30 non-profit organizations that serve the hungry, including: City Harvest, Feed My Starving Children, Feeding Children Everywhere, Food Lifeline, Harvester's Foodbank, Ronald McDonald House and Stop Hunger Now.
"We're thrilled to have exceeded our original goal of one million meals and believe that this speaks to how passionate our people are about the critical issue of world hunger," said Dan O'Keefe, senior managing director at Protiviti, who spearheaded the 'i on Hunger' initiative. "Although we've surpassed our goal, we're still strongly committed to this program and the larger cause of fighting hunger overall."
Consulting magazine is recognizing 15 firms for partnering with nonprofits, government entities, associations, and private and public sector companies through pro bono work, significantly discounted work, community outreach initiatives, employee-motivated volunteer projects, and other social and community investment and engagement. Recipients of the award will be honored during an awards dinner on September 10, 2015 in New York.
"We often recognize consulting firms that are doing well and now we want to recognize those firms that are doing good," said Joseph Kornik, publisher and editor-in-chief of Consulting magazine. "Although it's not widely publicized, the consulting profession does a tremendous amount of pro bono, discounted and volunteer work to make the world a better place. We're honored to shine a spotlight on these firms' altruistic efforts with the Excellence in Social & Community Investment awards."
