Construction Under Way on New Quarters Atop Peachtree Tower for Recently Merged Commerce and One Ninety One Clubs
Club Reinvention includes $7 Million Construction Project, New Membership Benefits
ATLANTA, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ --The new Commerce Club, a member of the ClubCorp family of clubs, announces today that a $7 million construction project is under way on its new club quarters, located on the 49th floor of One Ninety One Peachtree Tower. The Commerce Club merged memberships in early 2010 with the One Ninety One Club and, once established in the new facility, will operate under the name of The Commerce Club. In addition to relocating to new club quarters, The Commerce Club, with a renewed motto of "Developing the leaders of today and tomorrow for the city of Atlanta," also is introducing new programming, membership benefits, and services.
Plans for the new facility include a members bar featuring casual dining; seven state-of-the-art private meeting rooms; a ballroom that can accommodate more than 200 people for a seated event; a big-screen multimedia room; office-away-from-office spaces; and enhanced integration of cutting-edge technological conveniences. Winter Construction is serving as contractor on the project, which is expected to be completed by November 2010. During construction, members can utilize either existing club until the actual relocation takes place.
In conjunction with its renewed motto, dining rooms will be named after great Atlantans, including legendary golfer Bobby Jones and former Mayor Ivan Allen. Incorporated throughout the decor of the club will be historical art, artifacts, and memorabilia, such as paintings by Lamar Dodd and Wilbur G. Kurtz, historical wood carvings, and a plaque with the cast of Fulton County stadium that was originally given to Ivan Allen.
With a goal of Building Relationships and Enriching Lives®, the club's reinvention offers members more opportunities to network, relax and have fun, and enjoy new dining features. The addition of the big-screen multimedia room will allow the club to offer a variety of entertaining social events, such as watch parties for sporting events, movies, and concerts, throughout the week. The reinvention also provides personal and professional growth opportunities through ClubCorp's national strategic alliances, including access to select online content from the Harvard Business Review, the Mental Training Institute, Core Performance, and W2Wlink.com, a women's business network.
"The Commerce Club has served as a meeting place for civic and business leaders for half a century," said Everrett Butler, general manager. "The new club quarters, combined with the One Ninety One Club members – cultural, political, and business leaders in their own right – and the new membership benefits and programming, will allow us to celebrate the past while revitalizing and reinventing the club as an even more integral part of Atlanta's business and culture. I am very excited and proud to be a part of this evolution."
ClubCorp continues its major presence in Atlanta, currently home to nine ClubCorp properties and one of the company's major markets. Other ClubCorp properties in the Atlanta area include Buckhead Club, Bear's Best Golf Club, Eagle's Landing Country Club, and the recently acquired Country Club of the South, which is currently undergoing major renovations.
