PITTSBURGH, March 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Burleson LLP, a full-service law firm devoted primarily to the oil and gas industry, announced today that seasoned attorney Ericson P. Kimbel has joined its Pittsburgh location as a partner. The addition further strengthens the firm's construction and litigation capabilities for companies operating in the Appalachian Basin and nationwide.
Kimbel, who has practiced law for more than 15 years, is well versed in construction law and mechanic's lien law, energy-related construction litigation, pipeline construction litigation, commercial and contract litigation, transactional and bankruptcy matters, defense of OSHA and PennDOT claims, and federal government contracting matters.
His background includes litigating multi-million dollar matters related to the construction of a nuclear fuel conversion facility, and negotiating and settling multi-million dollar requests for equitable adjustments, including international procurement disputes and subcontractor claims.
Kimbel said joining the firm is a perfect fit for his practice. "Burleson understands what it takes to help businesses – and the attorneys who represent them – succeed," he explained. "They deliver the depth of capabilities clients need, backed by a level of service and agility that companies value. These distinguishing factors set Burleson apart from other firms, and I'm looking forward to growing my practice here."
Kevin Colosimo, managing partner in Pittsburgh, said he couldn't be more pleased with Kimbel's addition.
"Eric is well regarded for his depth of knowledge and broad background in delivering effective legal strategies to clients both in and out of the energy sector," explained Colosimo. "His understanding of construction law – combined with his reputation for delivering practical, high-quality counsel – complements our existing capabilities in the Northeast and further reinforces our commitment to providing legal expertise in areas critical to client operations."
Kimbel routinely counsels subcontractors, contractors, design-builders, and construction managers in both the public and the private sectors on commercial, institutional, highway, nuclear energy, and oil and gas projects.
He has represented clients in complex construction cases involving project delays, disruptions, and inefficiencies, and is experienced in prosecuting and defending mechanic's liens, bond claims, and payment claims. He also negotiates and drafts construction contracts of all types.
Kimbel is actively involved in various professional associations, and he speaks and writes on numerous issues related to the construction industry. He earned his undergraduate degree from Methodist University in Fayetteville, North Carolina, his graduate degree in public and international affairs, and his law degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
