CHICAGO, Dec. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Toys For Tots is now going outside of the box and coming to a house near you. Through a partnership with Connie's Pizza that will last through December 24th, Chicago's Toys For Tots will have the ability to pick up a new or used toy in exchange for free delivery, rather than waiting for the toys to come to them.
"Most places put a big box by their entrance and hope people come in with toys to donate. We do that as well, but this year we decided to think outside of the box. We're confident that this promotion has the potential to reach thousands of households, allowing us to collect toys that will make a huge difference during these holidays," said Connie's President Mike Stolfe.
Just in time for the holiday season, anyone who orders pizza from Connie's has the opportunity to give a new or old toy, which could brighten up the holidays for an unexpecting child. Both Gold Coast and Archer Avenue Connie's Pizza locations will be accepting Toys For Tots donations. Customers calling 312-CONNIES to place an order for delivery will have the option to waive their delivery charge if they mention that they will be donating a toy at the time of delivery.
"Our motto is every child deserves a smile for the holidays. These children can use all the help they can get," said Chicago's Toys For Tots Coordinator Jesus Castaneda.
Connie's delivery drivers won't be returning to the restaurant empty handed, but rather with toys in hand. On December 24th, Connie's will combine the toys collected at the two locations and bring them to the organization.
