RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Connexions Loyalty, a leading global provider of loyalty programs, today announced its partnership and commitment to the Children's Home Society ("CHS") of Virginia. The partnership will establish an ongoing employee volunteer program, including a year-round calendar of events and activities to benefit the Children's Home Society.
"At CHS, our mission is to find permanent adoptive homes for the more than 700 children in Virginia available for adoption," says Bruin Richardson, Chief Advancement Officer at Children's Home Society of Virginia. "Our volunteers make it possible for us to help provide critical support services to birth families, adoptive families, and past and present adoptees, which is why we are so thrilled about our partnership with Connexions Loyalty."
Virginia ranks as one of the worst in the country for the percent of children who age out of foster care at 18 years of age without being adopted1. Among those who are not adopted, 20 percent will become homeless after age 18; 25 percent will be incarcerated within two years; 42 percent will drop out of high school; and 71 percent of girls will become pregnant by age 21.2
To help curb the growing problem, CHS implemented The Possibilities Project, which provides housing, life skills training, counseling and case management for youth who have aged out of the foster care system. Developed in collaboration with The Better Housing Coalition, the program offers housing and an array of support services for Virginia's at-risk youth. CHS seeks to replicate the Possibilities Project model across the region, Virginia and the rest of the country.
"The innovative thinking that brought The Possibilities Project to life is what prompted Connexions Loyalty to partner with CHS," said Kathy Austin, Senior HR Business Partner, Global Operations, at Connexions Loyalty. "We are honored to give back to the community through this worthy organization."
Connexions Loyalty employees will volunteer at CHS festivals and events, and donate books, supplies and food to help both foster families and young people in the Possibilities Project. Additional opportunities include mentoring those involved in The Possibilities Project and chaperoning CHS's Kid's Club events. To inspire and allow for volunteerism, Connexions Loyalty offers all employees the opportunity to take a full day off with pay to donate their time to a project of their passion.
"The hope is that our employees' volunteering program and charitable actions will extend far beyond the scope of the partnership and there will be a lasting impact on the community," said Ms. Austin.
The partnership kicked off on August 9th with a lunch and learn meeting for employees. To learn more about CHS, visit https://www.chsva.org/
