Congresswoman Jackie Speier Visits ATDynamics
San Francisco Company Expands With TrailerTail® Innovation in Fuel Efficiency
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ATDynamics, Inc. announced today that Congresswoman Jackie Speier of California's 12th District visited the headquarters of ATDynamics, Inc. to learn more about innovative aerodynamic technology, engineered and manufactured in South San Francisco, with the potential to save the US trucking industry over $3 billion in fuel expenditures annually. ATDynamics' technology is helping the freight industry reduce greenhouse gas emissions at a net profit and creating green jobs in California and nationwide.
Congresswoman Speier was hosted by Andrew F. Smith, founder and CEO of ATDynamics, along with other senior executives. She had the opportunity to operate a "TrailerTail®," the aerodynamic extension for tractor-trailers which the public is beginning to see on fuel efficient trucking fleets across the country.
Representative Speier noted, "Every day in California, tractor trailers burn five million gallons of diesel fuel. By providing innovative technology that significantly reduces oil consumption, ATDynamics is helping to save trucking fleets money, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create green jobs in the 12th District. Innovation, smart public policy and a commitment to reducing fossil fuel dependence are the reasons our region leads the nation in clean-tech innovation."
"We are grateful to Congresswoman Speier for her visit and recognition," said Andrew F. Smith, CEO of ATDynamics, Inc. "A tractor-trailer traveling at highway speeds without a tail is wasting fuel and contributing unnecessarily to global warming. Our company is dedicated to setting a new standard for fuel efficiency among trucking fleets. The innovative mindset in this region of California drove us to expand our company's operations here."
On September 6th, ATDynamics announced the largest sale of rear-drag trailer aerodynamics technology in the history of the freight transportation industry when Mesilla Valley Transportation, a top 100 US trucking fleet based in Las Cruces, NM, began installations of TrailerTail® technology on its entire fleet of 3,500 trailers. The initiative of this single trucking fleet will reduce diesel fuel burned by over 1 million gallons annually and will cut CO2 emissions by over 11,000 tons annually – equivalent to taking over 2,000 cars off American roads.
