Congressman Peter King and 9th CD Republican Candidate Bob Turner to Make Joint Appearance on MOVE Act on Friday, Oct. 15
GLENDALE, N.Y., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Turner, the Republican candidate for Congress in New York's 9th CD who is challenging incumbent Anthony Weiner, will appear with Congressman Peter King to meet 9th CD residents and discuss the MOVE Act, which requires that absentee ballots be sent to overseas military personnel by a certain date; a date that was missed by the Board. The pair will call on U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to find a remedy for the New York State Board of Elections' violations of the MOVE Act.
King, who recently endorsed Turner in his race against Weiner, said: "It is totally unacceptable that New York state is unable to comply with the MOVE Act, which allows our soldiers overseas to participate in this election. These are the people who put their lives at risk fighting for our freedom and they deserve for their votes to be counted. I call on Attorney General Holder to step in and make an exception for New York to accommodate the voting rights of the 50,000 U.S. soldiers overseas from the New York area."
