Congressman Fattah Statement on November Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, Dec. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee and lead Democrat on the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies, issued the following statement on the November jobs numbers released today:
"Our economy continues to exceed expectations. The November jobs report showed that the private sector gained 314,000 jobs in November, with the employment rate holding steady at 5.8%. These figures extend what is already the longest streak on record—with 57 straight months of job growth accounting for 10.9 million jobs.
"This morning, I joined with the National Urban League in Philadelphia, where they announced the historic "Jobs Rebuild America" initiative in our community—part of a $100 million, five-year effort to comprehensively address the nation's employment and education crisis. I am proud to support public-private efforts like these, to help jumpstart our economy and provide investments in cities that will expand job training initiatives and technical assistance programs. As a Congress, we must also continue to do our part, passing legislation that strengthens our middle-class families, creates new jobs, and invests in American workers."
