Congressman Fattah Statement on August Jobs Report

WASHINGTON, Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee and lead Democrat on the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies, released the following statement on the August jobs numbers released today:

"The job numbers released today indicate that the unemployment rate fell to 6.1%, while 134,000 private sector jobs were added in August. This marks the 54^th consecutive month of private sector job growth. Not only does this represent the fastest growing job market since President Clinton, it extends what was already the longest streak on record.

"We are seeing the results of strong economic policies put in place by this Administration that continue to move our country in the right direction. Further, countering what critics have attested, researchers have presented new information this month that shows Obamacare is having no adverse affect on hiring."
