Congressman Fattah Statement on April Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, May 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02), a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement on the April 2016 jobs numbers released today:
"This month's job report reflects positive growth and change for the American economy. In April, 160,000 private sector jobs were added. With these numbers, the United States continues the longest streak of job growth on record, now at 74 months.
"The most significant change this month has been the increase in job prospects for new college graduates; these students are facing more options and higher salaries upon their degree completion. The growth of these opportunities, in addition to the growing demand for skilled workers, resounds with my historical commitment to provide our students and workforce with the resources to improve. With the tangible growth of sectors such as healthcare, finance, housing, and the tech industry, it is imperative that our workforce is equipped with the skills to meet growing demands.
"Each month I have had the pleasure to announce the addition of new jobs, but we cannot become complacent. We need to continue to catalyze innovation and confidence. The wide-ranging efforts of the Obama Administration, my colleagues in Congress, and I have yielded positive results that must be sustained and built upon.
