Congressman Fattah Announces Public Schedule for Week of September 15
WASHINGTON, Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) announced his public schedule for the week of September 15, 2014. Fattah will highlight his legislative priorities in a series of meetings, speaking engagements, and public appearances. Highlights of his public schedule are below. All events are in Washington, D.C. unless otherwise noted.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16
The Congressman will meet with NASA Astronaut Rick Mastracchio to discuss his recent mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS) as part of Expedition 38/39.
The Congressman will attend the Department of Energy's first National Lab Day on the Hill hosted by Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz.
The Congressman will meet with leadership from the American Society of Hematology (ASH), including Dr. Charles Abrams from the University of Pennsylvania & Dr. Gary Gibbons from NHLBI.
The Congressman will attend a meet and greet reception with the new National Education Association Officers.
The Congressman will deliver remarks at the Legal Services Corporation's (LSC) 40th Anniversary program, where LSC will announce the first awardees of the Pro Bono Innovation Fund which include Philadelphia Legal Assistance.
In the evening, Congressman Fattah, a Congressional champion for youth mentoring, will participate in the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Annual Youth of the Year Dinner honoring six extraordinary club members from across the country.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
Congressman Fattah will attend the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Congressional Breakfast honoring the 2014 National Youth of the Year.
The Congressman will attend the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Public Policy Center Constitution Day Reading of Preamble with students from Philadelphia.
The Congressman will speak at the annual Philadelphia Chamber Day in Washington, D.C. hosted in partnership by the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, CEO Council for Growth, and Select Greater Philadelphia.
The Congressman will attend the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Congressional MS Caucus briefing on 'Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis: An Unexpected Diagnosis for Children.'
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18
The Congressman will meet with Ron Rice from the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools; Rice is also a former City Councilman from Newark, New Jersey.
The Congressman will meet with Pat Schwartz, Executive Director of PennSERVE & national program directors from the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to discuss the impact that programs supported by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) are having across Pennsylvania.
The Congressman will meet with a delegation from the United for Medical Research Steering Committee to discuss National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
The Congressman will participate in a press conference for Hyundai's 5th Annual Hope on Wheels D.C. Days in recognition of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Congressman Fattah will meet with NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) Advisory Board member Bernadine Hawes, who also serves as current Chair of the Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (DVIRC) Board of Directors.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 22
Congressman Fattah will deliver opening remarks at the GEAR UP Week kick-off event in Philadelphia with students from seven area high schools. (Philadelphia)
