Congressman Fattah Announces $1.1 Million Grant for Medical Education at Children's Hospital
WASHINGTON, Nov. 15, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a senior Democratic Appropriator for federal science agencies, today announced the award of $1,116,918 for The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia to continue its leading role in educating the next generation of pediatricians.
CHOP, in the heart of the University City academic, research and hospital district, will receive the training grant under the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education Payment Program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Fattah said.
The program provides Federal funds to children's hospitals nationwide to help them maintain their graduate medical education programs that train resident physicians following graduation from medical school.
Fattah, who was re-elected to his 10th term with the highest vote total of any House member (301,869 votes), is a member of the House Appropriations Committee and the senior Democrat on its Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies.
